Checking Accounts
The credit union now offers two distinctly separate checking accounts.
Changes will go into effect on May 10, 2010, which will mean that our Regular Checking will retain all of its convenience features, and will remain free of monthly service charges for those members who are one of the following:
- 60 years of age or older, OR
- Younger than 18 years of age, OR
- Maintain a minimum balance of $5,000 in checking at all times, OR
- Have aggregate deposit and loan balances totaling $20,000 or more
If a member does not satisfy one of the above requisites, a $5.00 monthly maintenance fee will be incurred. This fee can also be avoided if a member opts to convert a "Regular Checking" account to an "e-Checking" account.
Our e-Checking account, available to members immediately, is truly electronic and NO monthly service fees would be incurred when a member's transactions are conducted online (via e-Access, e-Pay, etc.), or through an ATM.
Any fees on such an account would only be incurred if the member were to:
- Write a paper check
- Perform certain checking functions in-branch or via our Call Center (phone). These include inquiries, deposits, withdrawals, cashing services.
- Revert to receiving paper statements. (As a requirement of an e-Checking account a member must opt in to receive electronic account statements, i.e. e-Statements).

Security
All member accounts with the Credit Union are insured up to $250,000 per account by American Share Insurance (ASI), a private deposit insurer. In addition, the Credit Union holds ample funds as required by law in reserve to provide for losses and other unforeseen contingencies.
