The $25 minimum balance must be maintained for a minimum of six months. If the account is closed within the six months after opening, we will deduct the $25 bonus amount for that account at closing. The $25 will be credited at account opening. The $10 referral bonus is deposited the 15th of the following month after the new member account is opened. The bonus is considered interest and will be reported on the IRS Form 1099-INT.
The SSSCU Advantage Checking account has a fee of $6 per month. The SSSCU Basic Checking account has a fee of $3 per month that can be waived with 20 debit card transactions or $1,000 in deposits. Requirements must be met each month to avoid the fee. The $3 monthly fee is waived for members age 60 or older. Individuals seeking SSSCU membership must meet membership requirements.
