President's Message

I came to Silver State Schools Credit Union in 2011 to be part of a team to help SSSCU navigate through the economic downturn here in Clark County. The task was challenging and required many difficult decisions that eventually helped SSSCU emerge with a solid foundation for future expanded service and growth. It was a role that I feel honored to have been given the opportunity to take. This month I am retiring.

The transition is bittersweet as I’ll certainly miss the people I’ve had the opportunity to work with and meet. I’d like to thank you, our loyal members, for your trust and your belief in our ability to weather the storm, and for the opportunity to serve you. I am grateful to the dedicated SSSCU employees who saw the credit union through such difficult times. Their contribution should never be overlooked. I must also express my gratitude to the Board of Directors and to the Supervisory Committee. Their leadership and commitment have been tremendous.

Volunteering your time, whether it's in your community, your workplace or somewhere far across the world, is a wonderful way to give back. Volunteering is especially smart when it's not in your budget to make a donation. Besides helping to better the lives of others, volunteering can have a lot of unexpected benefits on your own life, as well. Here are a few reasons, besides the obvious, why you might want to donate your time this year:

Happy Times Calendar Spotlight

For 30 years, Silver State Schools Credit Union has tasked local student artists with creating art that reminds them of happy times. Every year the results come in by the thousands and are truly astounding. The top 13 pieces representing grades level K-12 are selected for our annual Happy Times Calendar.

The talented artists are presented with their original art professionally framed and a cash prize. The representing art teacher receives a cash prize to use towards their classroom. Members are invited to the McLeod branch gallery to see each of the 13 pieces on display. Copies of the 2016 Happy Times calendar are available to members at all eight branches.

We present to you the 2016 winners for the cover, January, February and March. Please enjoy.
