For over a decade, SSSCU has teamed up with the Clark County School District (CCSD) and a Southern Nevada auto dealership to recognize one outstanding educator with the gift of a new vehicle. The program honors educators who not only inspire in the classroom but also overcome significant personal hardships while continuing to serve their students with compassion and excellence.
This year’s honoree, Ms. Dodder, is a phenomenal math teacher who challenges her students to do their best while providing unwavering support, helping them thrive both academically and personally. She’s known for making complex math approachable and engaging, creating a classroom environment where students feel confident and motivated to succeed. Outside the classroom, Kelly coaches the Mannion Middle School girls’ soccer team and volunteers for weekly schoolwide math tutoring, extending her commitment to student success well beyond the school day.
Tragically, Ms. Dodder’s world changed earlier this year when her husband, Jordon, a proud Veteran and loving father, was killed in a motorcycle accident. Just weeks earlier, the family’s car had also been stolen. Now navigating life as a single mother to a young daughter and high school-aged son, Ms. Dodder faces immense emotional and financial challenges.

Thanks to a joint effort between Silver State Schools Credit Union and Towbin Kia, Ms. Dodder was given support through the gift of a new vehicle. While a new car cannot replace all that she’s lost, SSSCU is honored to provide this small measure of relief to an educator who continues to give so much, even in the face of unimaginable adversity.
