Silver State Schools Credit Union (SSSCU) is pleased to announce the following member has been nominated as a candidate for a position on the Board of Directors. The biographical information on this nominee follows:

 

Kirsten Searer (Incumbent)

  • Community/Public Service: Member, SSSCU Board, since 2025.
  • Career: Chief Community Engagement Officer, Clark County School District (CCSD), 2025 – Present; President, The Public Education Foundation, August 2019 – 2025; Chief of Communications & Community Engagement, CCSD, 2017 – 2019; Senior Director of Communications, Education Pioneers, 2015 – 2017; Chief of Staff and External Relations, CCSD, 2011 – 2015.
  • Education: BSJ, MSJ, Journalism, Northwestern University; Financial Success for Nonprofits, Cornell University.
  • Statement of Purpose: Kirsten Searer is a 15-year advocate for students in the Clark County School District (CCSD) and a trusted leader in Southern Nevada public education. As CCSD’s Chief Community Engagement Officer, she leads efforts to build trust, strengthen partnerships, and advance the district’s vision to become a “Destination District.” Appointed Chief of Staff in 2011, Kirsten reported to four CCSD Superintendents and is known for turning complex challenges into collaborative solutions, including expanding scholarships, strengthening the local teacher pipeline, improving equitable access to technology, reducing attendance barriers, and advancing early literacy. Rooted in a family legacy of public education, she lives in Henderson with her husband and two stepchildren, both CCSD students.

 

Further nominations may be forthcoming by petition (deadline, March 9, 2026). Absent any qualified member petition, the election will not be conducted by ballot. Nominations for the open positions may be made by petition signed by one percent (%) of the members with a minimum of 20 and a maximum of 500. Each nominee by petition shall submit a similar statement of qualification and biographical data with the petition. There will be no nominations from the floor at the Annual Membership Meeting when there is at least one nominee for each position to be filled.

The 76th Annual Membership Meeting will be hosted virtually.
