How we get involved

Since 1951, we have been deeply rooted in the Southern Nevada communities we serve. Many efforts are focused towards community-centric projects and organizations that improve and strengthen our neighborhoods. Our employee-driven Community Involvement Committee actively seeks opportunities to stay involved and give back to locals in need.
Piggy Bank

The Piggy Bank program was started through a partnership between SSSCU, The Andson Foundation, United Way of Southern Nevada, and Young Professional Society. The one-of-a-kind financial literacy program simulates a traditional banking experience at three local elementary schools. The emphasis is on teaching the students about saving money, goal setting, and real world application. Students graduate the program in the 5th grade with a better understanding of how to make smart financial decisions.

Light the Night

Team SSSCU continues to be a top corporate fundraiser for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) annual Light the Night walk thanks to generous donations from our members, employees, and partners. The Light the Night walk celebrates and commemorates lives touched by cancer and is held annually. The Credit Union was especially inspired by former coworker and Light the Night captain, Jenny Chester, who sadly lost her battle with cancer. The Credit Union raises funds through donations, bake sales, raffles, and employee events. Learn how you can join Team SSSCU in raising money for LLS’s Light the Night walk.

Children's Miracle Network

SSSCU is a proud member of Credit Unions for Kids - a nonprofit collaboration of credit unions engaged in fundraising and activities benefiting Children’s Miracle Network. SSSCU employees raise money and donate their time at local Children’s Miracle Network hospital, St. Rose Dominican Hospital.

Focus Schools

Through a partnership with the Clark County Schools District, SSSCU has designated two elementary schools as “focus schools” - Rex Bell E.S. and Stanford E.S.

SSSCU works with each focus school to fulfill a multitude of needs on campus such as sock drives, coat drives, toy drives, and donating books for literacy night. The Credit Union is also an annual participant in Teacher Appreciation Week.
